Day 81: Wednesday, June 29, 2011

We did not end up riding from Jackson to Colter Bay Village Resort in the Grand Teton National Forest.  A severe storm was threatening all day with 40 mph winds.  As a result, the entire valley lost power for several hours.  Instead, Bob and I visited the Indian Arts Museum in the Village and Vincent took a long hike.  The museum contains a vast array of American Indian artifacts and very nice displays of beaded work including moccasins, dresses, horse sashes and bandoliers.  We also met  DG House (DGHouseart.com), the artist in residence.  She is a delightful person and projects sunshine through her personality and her work.  She creates bright, colored works of animals she encounters in her everyday life.  In fact, she seems to remember exactly where she saw each animal she has painted.  I bought an original dragonfly and 2 prints that will liven up my studio.  As I was packing up the computer after posting several blogs, Nancy Lewis, an artist and avid bicyclist sat down at the table to use the plug for her computer.  We spoke for some time and she told me about her trip to Argentina several years ago.  Check out her websites at hobobiker.com and Nancylewisart.com for more information.  This place really inspires creativity and adventure.
