Schumaker Cross Country Cycling Adventure
We're biking across country. Follow our progress as we experience the adventure!
We have been thoroughly enjoying the weather in Florida and visiting
friends while getting a bit of bicycling in. We are currently at
Patrick AFT and enjoying day trips up and down A1A.

We are back in Florida and enjoying warm weather. We left Maryland on January 2nd and had a boatload of problems getting down. Fortunately, we have good friends in Lady Lake, Florida and they put us up for 10 days or so while we bought a new truck and got the trailer ready to go. We finally pulled into our first chosen RV site on January 29th. It's a great site about 6.5 miles from the Suncoast Trail, a 42-mile paved trail that parallels the Suncoast Parkway, beginning in northern Hillsborough
County, and heads north through Pasco and Hernando counties.
We rode 15 miles today. I haven't been on a bicycle for about 3 months secondary to patellar tendinitis. The knees feel pretty good and I hope the inflammation is finally gone.

46 miles to Pine Island Beach, Spring Hill, FL. We didn't intend to bike so far, but we took a wrong turn and went an extra 10 miles. Bob says he gets 2 desserts tonight.

32 miles to Brookesville, FL on the Suncoast Trail. We stopped at a
darling restaurant for lunch. They had fabulous desserts. We had triple
chocolate bundt cake with ice cream and whipped cream. We ate it all
before I took a photo. Trust me, it was great. The place was packed so
we invited 2 bicyclists to join our table. Judy and David Miller from
Lansing, Michigan were fantastic. We had been looking for the
Withlacoochie State Trail. Judy and David decided they needed to give us
a tour. They drove us around and showed us the trailheads, restaurants
and bicycle shops. We exchanged information and I really hope we connect
with them again. Who knows, maybe we will join them on some of the
great rides they described in Lansing.
